Kraft Paper carry bags with paper twist handles are an environmentally conscious option as they are made from recyclable paper. These are becoming a popular alternative to plastic carry bags due to their bio-degradable properties and stylish appearance. Made from heavy duty kraft paper, these bags are also quite strong and their side gussets provide extra carrying capacity. Printed paper bags are being used more and more in stores and as sample bags.
When printed overseas, more printing options are available and the price per thousand is much cheaper. However, a larger minimum quantity is required and lead times can extend out to 14 weeks. Whether you decide to have imported or Australian printed paper bags will depend on your requirements and time restraints. The handle on these bags is made of twisted paper in the same colour as the bag, or for a small surcharge, different coloured handles are available on imported bags only.
Kraft paper carry bags are made with a Self Opening Satchel feature (Also known as Boxed Bottom). This means that the bag has both side and bottom gussets which are the same size, enabling the bag to be virtually self standing.
There are only two choices of Kraft Paper bags - brown or white. To obtain the effect of a black, red or yellow bag, the bag is completely overprinted with the colour desired. This is called a 100% ink coverage and can only be done on imported printed bags. When requesting a coloured bag, this ink colour must be included in the number of colours to be printed on the bag. For example, if you wanted a pink bag with black and red print, you would need to choose 3 print colours. The choice of colour that is to be printed needs careful consideration. Printing on a white Kraft bag will look great but when printing certain artwork or colours on a brown Kraft bag, the colours are not quite as crisp. For example, black printed on a brown Kraft bag looks very effective. Pale pink on the other hand, printed on a brown Kraft bag can look insipid.
Please note: It is recommended that 100% ink coverage should only be requested on a white bag as this produces the best results.
Paper is measured by weight and is shown as gsm, which is an abbreviation of grams per square metre. A standard Kraft paper bags, ranges from 90gsm to 120gsm.
