Trade shows are a great way to get in front of new customers — but with so many stalls competing for attention, how do you make sure people remember you? A well-chosen printed bag does the work for you, long after they've left your stand.
Which bag should you print on?
Choose a bag that's easy to carry hands-free — drawstring calico bags (worn as a backpack) and non-woven polypropylene bags (slung over the shoulder) both work well. Go slightly larger, too: if yours is the roomiest, comfiest bag at the show, visitors will use it to carry everyone else's flyers — putting your brand in front of every booth they visit.
The lesson: have a distribution strategy
One widely-cited trade-show example saw an exhibitor hand out large, comfortable branded bags at the entrance — so attendees filled them with everyone's giveaways and unwittingly carried that brand around the entire venue all day. Printing the bag is only half the job; think about where and when you hand it out to maximise exposure.
A quick checklist for a high-impact bag:
- Large enough to collect other items
- Comfortable to wear or carry
- Printed on both sides
- Distributed early or at the entrance for all-day visibility
What should you print on it?
Your logo first, with your slogan just beneath it. Add your website and phone number so prospects can reach you easily, and your booth number if you're handing bags out near the entrance. Keep colours on-brand and high-contrast — avoid light print on a light bag.
