Choosing paper bags for your Brisbane business
Being local means you can test a few sizes quickly and reorder often. Here is how Brisbane customers tend to choose.
Shops and shopping centre retail
The A4 brown carry bag (260x350mm) is the default for most counters, with the A5 for small items and the 440x500mm bag for bulky purchases. For a more upmarket feel, look at the boutique brown A4. See our fashion retail packaging page for more.
Cafes, bakeries and takeaway
Size 6 flat brown bags (235x335mm) suit wraps, rolls and pastries, and our takeaway carry bags handle containers. Our cafe, bakery and restaurant and takeaway pages cover the rest of the counter.
Markets and weekend stalls
Grocery SOS bags stand open on a trestle table and fill quickly. Many stallholders pick up from Archerfield on a Friday before a weekend market. More ideas on our market stall packaging page.
Pharmacies and health stores
White bags read as clean and clinical, so the A4 white carry bag and white flat bags are popular here. See our pharmacy packaging page.
Heavier loads
The deluxe brown bag (310x420mm) uses heavier kraft and cotton handles for bottles, books and boxed goods. Our guide to kraft paper explains the difference.
Printed bags for local brands
Brisbane businesses often start with a printed run of a single size. Browse the custom printed paper bag range or request a free printed sample.
Paper bags Brisbane: common questions
How fast is delivery within Brisbane?
Orders placed before 12pm Monday to Friday leave Archerfield the same day, and Brisbane metro postcodes usually receive them in 1 to 2 business days. Other parts of Queensland take longer depending on the area. Check the freight rates page for your postcode.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. Choose Click and Collect at checkout and our team will contact you when the order is ready. Collection is from Unit 4 and 5, 33 Stockwell Place, Archerfield QLD 4108, between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Full details are on our shipping and returns page.
Do paper bags meet Queensland's plastic bag rules?
Yes. Queensland banned lightweight plastic shopping bags from 1 July 2018, and paper carry bags are not covered by that ban. Our Queensland compliant packaging page explains which other bags you can use.
Can I buy a small quantity?
Yes. Most paper bags are sold in a pack of 50 as well as a full carton of 125 to 500. Local customers often buy a pack, check the fit, then collect cartons.
Can I get a custom size made?
Yes, through an import order. Custom bags take 12 to 16 weeks from approval and usually start at around 3,000 units, depending on the style. Request a quote and our Archerfield team will come back to you.
