5 Artwork Tips for Printed Bags That Look Amazing

admin |

Printed bags are a fantastic way to grow your brand visibility — but the artwork makes all the difference. Here are five tips to make your printed bags look amazing.

1. Keep it simple

Your bags will be seen from a distance by the general public, not just your customer. Keep the design bold and simple so it's instantly recognisable from afar.

2. Use complementary colours

The way your print colour interacts with the bag colour has a big impact. A quick guide for printing on QIS bags:

  • Black print: brown, white, aqua, lime, red, pink, orange or yellow bags. Avoid purple or black.
  • White print: brown, black, aqua, red, pink, orange, purple. Avoid white and yellow.
  • Red print: white, black or lime. Avoid red, pink and orange.
  • Yellow print: black, purple, aqua or red. Avoid white and yellow.
  • Blue print: brown or white. Avoid aqua, purple and black.
  • Green print: white (or brown/yellow if the green is dark enough).

The same logic applies to multi-colour artwork — e.g. yellow and white both work on black individually, but together they'd be hard to tell apart. This list is a guide; we can print any colours you like.

3. Include your website and social media

If you're investing in printed bags, add your website and socials — it makes it easy for people to find you and adds a professional touch.

4. Choose the right bag for your brand

Match the bag to your brand: matte or gloss laminated paper bags for premium retail; printed calico or brown paper for a natural, boutique feel; reusable non-woven bags for grocers; and economical printed flat paper bags for bakeries and pharmacies.

5. Print double-sided

Double-sided printing means your artwork is seen whichever way the bag faces — doubling your exposure. It costs a little more, but if the artwork is the same on both sides, you only pay for one printing plate.
