LDPE is one of the most widely used plastics in packaging — here is what it is and where you will find it.
What does LDPE stand for?
LDPE is short for Low-Density Polyethylene. In its natural form it is clear, though it looks more opaque as the film gets thicker, and it can be made in almost any colour by adding a colouring compound (called masterbatch) during manufacturing.
Why LDPE is so popular
LDPE is prized for its flexibility, relative clarity and how easily it can be heat-sealed. It also prints well, which is why it is used for carry bags, shopping bags, promotional banners and much more. QIS offers a custom printing service for LDPE products.
