What does LLDPE stand for?

LLDPE is short for Linear Low-Density Polyethylene. It is essentially a modified version of LDPE, with a linear molecular structure added during manufacturing. That structure gives LLDPE greater impact and puncture resistance, a softer, more flexible feel, and higher tensile strength.

Why LLDPE matters: stretch

The standout property of LLDPE is its ability to stretch. That is why stretch wrap (pallet wrap) is made from almost 100% LLDPE — it lets you pull the film tight around a load for a secure bind.
